Anthony Johnson humble following failed UFC 187 title bid: 'I promise I'll be back'

“A lot of people would have given up if they went through what I went through; I’m just proud of myself for not giving up and trying to be the best person I can be and do the best that I can do and try to be something in life,” Johnson told MMAjunkie following the event. “My goal is still to be champion one day. I was on a nine-fight win-streak and Daniel just defeated me. But I promise I’ll be back. I don’t care who I have to fight, when I have to fight them or where I have to fight them. I will be back and whoever’s there, hey, let’s do it.”

“I can’t lie, he wrestled the hell out of me tonight,” Johnson said. “Daniel did an awesome job. He definitely made me carry his weight and he’s heavy as hell. It wasn’t an adrenaline dump. This motherf-cker is heavy. I’m just glad to be in this moment right now. I can’t take anything away from Daniel. I’m happy for him, I’m proud of him and I wish him nothing but success.”

“One step at a time,” he said. “Somebody is going to call me tomorrow from the UFC about my next fight, and it’s going to be my next opponent.

“Of course, in the future, I want to be UFC champion, but sooner or later, it doesn’t matter. I can be in line, so I’m good. I still have a few more years in the UFC

Donald Cerrone got punched in the mouth at Whole Foods

“I got punched in the mouth at a Whole Foods, (and it) knocked the glasses off my head,” Cerrone said earlier this week. “I was texting on my phone and walking across the crosswalk, me and (fiancee Lindsay Sheffield). The guy’s honking. She’s like, ‘You know that guy?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know who that guy is.’ I just didn’t pay any attention and went to my car.

“They come rolling over, running their mouths. And dude just smoked me and blew my glasses off my face. I was f-cking livid, man. Seeing fire in my eyes.”

“Now, where I’m at having to deal with the boat incident and going through all this, I just bit the bullet,” he said. “I told the dude, ‘Today – today is your lucky day.'”
And Cerrone drove away.

“Just the maturity of where I’m at now and being in the public eye, I can’t just – when I’m driving my truck and road rage, I want to get over and beat people up all the time, but I just can’t do it,” he said. “Jon is just young. He’s got a lot of money and making the mistakes. … He’s just in the public eye.”

'Cyborg' wants UFC champ Ronda Rousey to fight at 140 pounds

Friday, Cristiane Justino urged Ronda Rousey to move up from bantamweight to fight her at 140 pounds. And she said she wants the fight more than she wants Rousey’s 135-pound UFC title.

“All fighters want to be a champ in the UFC,” Justino said on FOX Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight” on Friday. “I think for now, it’d be great to see me and Ronda fight. I don’t want her belt. I just want to fight her. Let’s go fight. Let’s go meet at 140. Let’s do it.”

“I have a professional nutritional guy and he helped me make 145 much easier,” Justino said. “I can 100 percent make it. I’m ready for this fight. When (Rousey) was in Strikeforce, I wanted to make the fight. I try 100 percent to make 135. It’s annoying. I want to fight her.”
