Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira planned for Super Bowl weekend

According to a report from ESPN, citing UFC President Dana White, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (19-1 MMA, 13-1 UFC) will defend his belt against Glover Teixeira (22-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) – likely at the promotion's Super Bowl weekend card in New Jersey.

Dana White told ESPN the Teixeira fight was requested by Jones.

"That's what the champ wants," White said. "We'll probably have that fight on the Super Bowl card in New Jersey."

"I said before the fight my sights were set on breaking the record," Jones stated. "I want to crush the record. I want to beat the record so bad it can never be broken. I'm going to fight Glover and I will answer all the critics about the Gustafsson fight. I will fight Gustafsson after I fight Glover. I won the fight but I look at it as a blemish on my record because some people think I didn't. I promise you, he will be next."

Jon Jones predicts Teixeira or superfight next

Jones told Jim Rome he expects Glover Teixeira (22-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) to be standing between him and the record for light heavyweight title defenses, but could also be in the mood for a superfight.

"As far as Daniel Cormier, he definitely won't be getting a title fight," said Jones, who on Saturday meets Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. "I don't think I would accept a fight against him. He's a guy I don't respect at all. I'd definitely make sure he loses the weight, makes 205 and make sure he earns a title shot.
"At the end of the day, the guy's a hater. I've really done nothing wrong to the guy to have an issue with him, and every time I turn around he's figuring out a way to have my name in his mouth."

"I just don't respect the guy at all, and I think the ultimate way to defeat him is to make him lose all that weight, which is tough work, make him earn a title fight, which is tough work, and then at the end of the day, walk away with nothing," Jones said of "DC."

"My biggest goal is to accomplish this record of seven title defenses," he said. "But after that, I'm here for the fans. I'm an entertainer, and if (the fans) want to see me against a certain heavyweight, I'll talk to my team and my coaching staff and see if it makes sense to us. But I'm predicting either Glover Teixeira or some interesting superfights for the fans."

"I feel great against Glover Teixeira, definitely," he said. "I think he's a little slower of an athlete. He has great power. But i have really big eyes when I'm out there and I see things coming, and I come well-prepared. He reminds me of 'Rampage' Jackson. The difference is, he attacks your takedowns a little bit more and he has better grappling. But I'm a pretty well-rounded fighter, and very confident."

Jon Jones not out of reach, says UFC 165 title challenger Alexander Gustafsson

"My reach is not 76.5," he said during a conference call in support of UFC 165, which takes place Sept. 21 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. "It's 81.2. I just wanted to mention that." said Alexander Gustafsson

"It's not always about reach," he said. "It's about footwork. It's about being fast, getting in and out. I'm really making sure I've done my homework there. I'm super motivated."

Jon Jones on Reach

"I just believe that I use my reach better," he said. "If you watch my fights and you watch Alexander's fights, he gets hit a lot with a lot of different punches.
"With me, I've gone through some fights where fighters have only punched me once. I mean, I fought (Quinton) 'Rampage' Jackson, and he hit me, like, twice in the whole fight. Lyoto Machida was able to touch my face twice in the whole fight.

"(I'm) fighting against the best guys in the world, and a lot of them never even get a chance to punch me in the face throughout the fight. So I just believe I use my timing, my rhythm, my distance a lot better than him. I think the proof is in the pudding."

Video-Miesha Tate: 'Emotionally unstable' Ronda Rousey showing true colors on 'TUF 18'

"It's easy when you're doing an interview for 15 minutes to look like the cool chick and whatever, but when you're on a show for six weeks, it's hard to conceal exactly who you are," Tate today told MMAjunkie.com Radio. "I think there's finally some light being shed on the whole situation, and basically it's going to change in one way or another."

"I realized that she is very, very, very emotional," Tate said. "I would even go as far as to say emotionally unstable. When my team's going through ups and downs, I want to be the stable one that they look to and find strength in. That was my goal. I didn't necessarily see that from her all the time. She came off a little unstable. She is emotional, she did care [about her team], but I do see that as a weakness."
