DANA WHITE: POTENTIAL OLYMPIC WRESTLING DEMISE COULD BE MMA'S GAIN

"I've been battling this problem for years now," White on Wednesday told MMAjunkie.com(www.mmajunkie.com) after a news conference for UFC on FUEL TV 7 in London. "Colleges are dropping it. High schools are dropping wrestling. The problem with wrestling is, it's an awesome base for mixed martial arts, for everything – I mean, I've never wrestled, but what I hear it does to guys that wrestle, it changes peoples' lives. It's this grueling, hard work and dedication – all the things that go in with being a wrestler."

"The problem is nobody wants to watch it," White said. "Any sport, especially these days, it's about selling tickets and eyeballs and viewers and all these other things. And there's been a lot of people saying, 'You've got to f---ing do something,' but – and Garry (Cook) and I were talking about this yesterday –what this could be is the evolution of mixed martial arts becoming an Olympic sport."

"We bring spectators, eyeballs – whether it's TV or whatever it is," he said. "This sport draws. Wrestling doesn't. I can't be the guy to run out and try and save wrestling. I've been doing it for years. You know how many wrestling programs I funded over the past five, six years? A lot. Yeah, I don't want to see wrestling go away either. It's such a big part of the sport. But, something's going to happen here. It's going to evolve into mixed martial arts or something. I don't know. I don't think wrestling is going to go anywhere, but competitive wrestling definitely is."

RONDA ROUSEY NOT CONCERNED WITH 'CRYBORG' SANTOS, WANTS TATE-ZINGANO WINNER

"I think she's just making a lot of noise, trying to get a lot of attention because she's fading into being irrelevant," Rousey (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) said during a media call in support of UFC 157, which she headlines opposite Liz Carmouche (7-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) on Feb. 23 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

"To be honest, I have a lot of options ahead of me," said Rousey. "I have a lot of girls that I can fight, and she doesn't really have any other options besides me.

"So they could run around, make a bunch of noise and be a big 'Cryborg' as much as she wants, but at some point, she's going to have to come around and take the only fight that's available for her, and in the meantime, I'm going to take the 20 options that are available to me."

DANA WHITE ON RASHAD EVANS' UFC 156 LOSS: 'HE HAS LOST THAT HUNGER'

"To be honest with you, Rashad and I have a good relationship," he said. "I like Rashad a lot. He's a good guy, a smart guy. But he has lost that hunger. He's lost that desire and drive, and he needs to get it back. There's no doubt about it. "He needs to get hungry again." "Back in the day, he used to get a little – what's the word I'm looking for? – paranoid," he said. "He was always a little paranoid. But he always did the right thing. He needs to get that fire back. He doesn't have that fire. He needs to get it. "Rashad used to train like a beast. Rashad never used to get tired. The only time you saw Rashad get tired was when he first came into the UFC and fought Tito (Ortiz) in that first fight. Then after that he turned into an absolute beast. He's gotta get it back."
